Violin is a major component of a child’s education at Global Concepts.  EVERY student learns to play the violin and receives a 30-minute lesson per week. Research has repeatedly shown the correlation between playing a musical instrument and high student achievement. In particular, playing the violin increases self-discipline, responsibility, creativity and imagination, spatial reasoning, thought processing, and fine motor skills.

Students learn to play using a modified Suzuki method. This method emphasizes playing by ear, following a teacher’s model, and learning a sequence of folk songs, but not reading notes. The first song to master is "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star," and the Suzuki method quickly progresses to music of the master composers, such as J.S. Bach, Vivaldi, Handel, Beethoven.

GCCS has two concerts annually—winter and spring. These concerts feature all students in the school.  For students who excel at violin, there are two honor groups: Superstars (Gr. 3-5) and Little Twinklers (Gr. K-2).  These groups perform more concerts and often travel to perform.
