Ms. Velk's Library Procedures
Book Exchange
- There is time at the end of each Library class for students to participate in book exchange.
- Books need to be returned before a new book selection can be made.
- Additional books may be selected for class assignments.
Overdue Material
- Books are considered overdue after two (2) weeks.
Lost or Damaged Materials
- It is the responsibility of the student to pay for lost or damaged materials.
Grade Levels:
Kindergarten
- One book allowed.
- I take a few weeks to review book care before students are allowed to check out books at this level. Literature based assignments are taught in the Library.
First Grade
- One book allowed.
- I encourage student to make appropriate book choices and look for a book that is a good fit. Literature based assignments are taught in the Library.
- Participation in the Accelerated Reader Program.
Second Grade
- One book allowed.
- I continue to encourage students to make appropriate book choices that meet their interests. Instruction on beginning library skills and literature based assignments in the Library.
- Participation in the Accelerated Reader Program.
Third and Fourth Grade
- One book allowed.
- Direct instruction on library skills and literature based assignments in the Library.
- Participation in the Accelerated Reader Program.
Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Grade
- One book allowed.
- Direct instruction on library/resource skills and literature based assignments in the Library.
- Participation in the Accelerated Reader Program.
