The Global Concepts Charter School Library is an adventurous and calm getaway
for students. It is a place that enhances their imagination and academic
growth. Students are eager to check out library books for classroom assignments
as well as for their reading pleasure. In addition, students experience literature-based
lessons that focus on library, reading and writing skills. The school librarian,
teachers and parents work together to enforce the importance of responsibility
and the proper care of library books. Library media and resources are utilized
daily by teachers and staff to support their individual classroom curriculum.
The school library is the heart of the school and its atmosphere is engaging
and relaxed.
The school librarian coordinates the Accelerated Reader (AR) Program
in the library center. The reading program has an excellent reputation
for creating star readers. The program is a fun and exciting way to
encourage reading at home and in the classroom. Program data has
shown that reading interest and test scores soar due to its
implementation. Students are very excited about the program and we
have observed them reading book after book as they progressively
accumulate reading points. It is programs like this along with the entire
curriculum at GCCS that makes the difference in the reading progress of
our students.
